Debra Sokolow earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State College, Sonoma and has completed computer graphics, editing and architectural history courses through the UCLA Extension program.

Ms. Debra Sokolow was awarded a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship,which included research that compared Judaism and Shinto practices.

Ms. Sokolow developed the Architecture and Design program. She teaches Beginning and Advanced Architectural Design in high school  and Centers of Excellence: Architecture in middle school.

Ms. Sokolow worked with a select group of students, from grades seven through twelve to design the Mosaic Ark Wall inside the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Beit Midrash at Saperstein Middle School. Students, faculty, staff and community members all participated in this project.

As a professional and exhibiting artist, Ms. Sokolow’s strives to inspire each student to translate his/her inner thoughts into conceptual design and visual form, while developing the skills and understanding of the artistic process.

Sokolow received the Milken Family Foundation and Bureau of Jewish Education Jewish Educator Award in 2011.
