America 3.0: America in the Age of Information is a senior-level elective history course for students interested in exploring the transformation of American society from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. Beginning with the major technological revolutions of the 1940s and 1950s, we will consider the disruptive people and events who transformed the nation. This course is not a survey of the history of the United States from 1945 to the present! Rather, we will be investigating critical issues in the transformation of American society from 1945 to present. Key issues will include technology, gender and family, civil rights, permanent war and culture.
