Born and raised in London, England, Mr. Shine made aliya and has a B.A. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A former staff member in the Former Soviet Union Team of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Mr. Shine is well-acquainted with the Jewish world in general, and with Jewish education in particular. In addition, he attended graduate studies at the University of Michigan, where he also taught. More recently, he has taught Jewish studies at the San Diego Jewish Academy and at Brandeis Hillel Day School in San Francisco. He was a 2007-2009 Tichon
Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute, Jerusalem, working on curricula design for middle and high school as well as adult education.
Mr. Shine is married with three children, and he and his family are very happy to be members of the Milken community.
