Katherine Owuor earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University in New York, her Master’s of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education and a Neuroscience Doctorate at Yale University. Dr. Owuor is very excited to start her first year at Milken Community High School teaching Science in seventh and eighth grades. As a Neuroscientist, Dr. Owuor strives to enrich the learning experience in her classroom by providing engagement of all senses. She supplies and encourages multimodal associations to make learning
more efficient for every student in her classroom. As an avid supporter of literacy throughout school curriculum and everyday life, Dr. Owuor encourages reading of fiction and non-fiction and continuous reflection through discussion and writing. She looks to make Science engaging, relevant and applicable in and outside the classroom setting.
In her spare time, Dr. Owuor enjoys going to the movies, theater and walking on the beach. She is also looking forward to entering the LA Argentine Tango scene and finding a good Pilates instructor.
