Mary Ellen Mortimer received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati. Her ongoing education took place at the Brentwood Art Center where she took painting classes and workshops.
Her earlier teaching career was interrupted while she raised her four children. She is celebrating her 11th year and Milken and she currently teaches Upper School Ceramics I & II, Painting I & II and Drawing I & II.
Mary Ellen's field of expertise is the figure. Her tools of expression are pencil, charcoal, acrylic washes. She has chosen the figure because it has a life force that has energy and vitality. Drawing the figure takes her on a difficult and challenging journey, in which she experiences her greatest growth.
